What to Pack For a Music Festival

The key to packing for music festivals isn’t packing light- it’s packing in a way you can carry as much as possible to the campsite from your car or whatever public transport you take to the event. Obviously a car is better because you can pack more stuff, making you better prepared and less reliant on the overpriced shops, food stalls and bars in and around the festival arena.

The amount you’ll need to pack will vary depending on whether you’re at a a 2 day, 3 night festival like V festival or the isle of White or other festivals like Glastonbury or Reading and Leeds, which are longer so you might need to pack more food, drink and toiletries.

Although food at festivals is in ready supply and some of it isn’t too bad these days to save money we’d recommend taking as much of your own food as possible. UK Music Festivals – A Brief Guide to Some of the Most Popular

As the days get longer and the sun gets warmer there is only one thing on the mind of many a UK music lover – music festivals. These days there are so many to choose from it’s often difficult to choose which to attend, especially if you can only afford to splash the cash for one event.

Glastonbury is the grand-daddy of all UK such festivals and every year it sells out within just a few hours of the tickets going on sale; often without people knowing the full line-up and sometimes the headliners. It takes place in Somerset during the middle of summer and lasts for five days; for many people it is the most important event of the year.

In the wake of Glastonbury there are a few other large music festivals that are spread over a weekend or slightly more. Here are a few of them.

Reading and Leeds Festival

The Reading and Leeds festival takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, starting on Friday and ending Sunday. Typically the bands play each venue over the course of the three days. Glastonbury attracts thousands of music lovers every year. Tickets for Glastonbury 2009 have already sold out due to the huge demand. The event takes place from Wednesday 24th to Sunday 28th of June 2009.
